Get Involved, In 1939 Lord Craigmyle handed over Peel House and its grounds on trust to be used as a hospital for service patients. The cottage hospital was founded and funded by Arthur Macmillan Scott of Pinnaclehall, in memory of his sister. Dr. Kenneth McLay died at Peel Hospital, Galashiels, on 15 April after a period of broken health which began soon after his retirement in 1958. The hospital was finally closed in 1988.
